Because Google now leans heavily on machine learning, you can count on their “AI” to notice patterns. Specifically they will notice the patterns behind the natural accumulation of backlinks.

It probably starts with obvious (and OK) links of your own doing. A blog post on your personal site introducing your new website. Mentions of it on your own socials.

At the other end of the scale, a brand new site with a bunch of exactly 500 word articles suddenly gets exactly 20 backlinks every month from 500 word articles with keywords in the anchor text.

Try and think of a believable scenario by which your site became known, and then try to mimic that. it could vary a lot between industries.

Me, I start with a link in Reddit. In a community I am a long-time and trusted member of. And genuinely sharing something because it might be interesting or useful for others.

Then it makes sense if links to it appear elsewhere, with the number of links growing each month.
